Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo Arrives at KPK Building After Being Caught in Sting Operation

Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo arrived at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Merah Putih building after being ensnared in a sting operation (OTT) on Friday (10/4) night. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that Gatut Sunu was immediately brought to Jakarta following the OTT. “This morning (Saturday), the team brought the Tulungagung Regent to Jakarta for further examination,” said Budi Prasetyo. “The regent arrived at the KPK Merah Putih building around 06.50 WIB and was immediately subjected to intensive questioning,” he continued. As for the other parties caught in the OTT with Gatut Sunu, Budi added that the KPK is still conducting examinations at the Tulungagung Police Resort headquarters. Gatut was elected as Tulungagung Regent in the 2024 regional elections. He was previously a PDIP cadre but left and joined the Gerindra Party before the election. Gatut served as Deputy Regent of Tulungagung from 2019 to 2023. He is also known as a building materials shop entrepreneur. Previously, the KPK has also arrested several regional heads at the beginning of this year. Some of the arrested regional heads come from East Java, such as the Ponorogo Regent and the Madiun Mayor.
