REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) states that Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo is suspected of frequently requesting reimbursements for personal expenses from organisational units of the regional apparatus (OPD) or agencies within the Tulungagung Regency Government, East Java. The KPK also secured evidence in the form of cash and several personal items during the sting operation against the regent.

“From the facts obtained by the team, the suspect always requested reimbursements for expenses already incurred, even for shoe purchases, which were also claimed from the regional apparatus or OPD,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta yesterday.

“We are showing cash amounting to Rp 335 million as well as four pairs of shoes valued at around Rp 129 million,” Budi added. In addition, he said, the reimbursement claims are also suspected to cover medical needs, dining events, and other personal requirements.

Previously, the KPK carried out a sting operation (OTT) in the Tulungagung area, East Java, on 10 April 2026. In the operation, the KPK arrested 18 people, including Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his younger brother, who is also a member of the Tulungagung DPRD, Jatmiko Dwijo Saputro.

The following day, on 11 April 2026, the KPK brought Gatut Sunu along with his brother and 11 others to Jakarta for further examination. On the same day, the KPK named Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his aide Dwi Yoga Ambal as suspects in the alleged extortion and other receipts case within the Tulungagung Regency Government for the 2025–2026 fiscal year.

For their actions, the suspects are charged under Article 12 letter e or Article 12B of the Corruption Eradication Law in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code.
