Tulungagung Regent Allegedly Demands 50 Percent Cut from OPD Additional Budgets
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo is alleged to have demanded a share from the additional budgets of several regional government agencies (OPDs) under the Tulungagung Regency Government. “Regarding the additional budget, Gatut demanded up to 50 percent of the added budget value,” stated Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, during a press conference at the KPK’s Red and White Building on Saturday (11/4/2026). “For example, if Rp100 million was added, he would demand Rp50 million. Even before the budget was disbursed or given to the OPD, so the OPD would essentially have a debt,” Asep explained. Up to the arrest on Friday (10/4/2026), the collected funds amounted to Rp 2.7 billion. “These funds are alleged to have been used for personal interests, such as buying shoes, medical treatment, meals, and other personal needs that were also requested or charged to the OPD budgets,” Asep said. Asep added that the money was also used to provide holiday allowances (THR) to members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda). Previously, the KPK designated Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo as a suspect in the alleged extortion case within the Tulungagung Regency Government, East Java. In addition to Gatut, the KPK also named Dwi Yoga Ambal, the regent’s aide, as a suspect in the case. For their actions, the suspects are charged with corruption offences as stipulated in Article 12 letter e or Article 12B of Law No. 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption, as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001 on the eradication of corruption crimes, joined with Article 20 letter c of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code.
