Tulungagung proposes three Limousin cattle for Presidential sacrificial animals
The Tulungagung Regency Government, East Java, has proposed three Limousin cattle weighing more than one tonne as candidates for the President’s sacrificial animal assistance for Eid al-Adha 2026. The Head of the Tulungagung Livestock and Animal Health Service (DPKH), Agus Suswantoro, stated on Monday that the proposal follows a letter from the State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia (Setneg RI) regarding the provision of sacrificial cattle from President Prabowo Subianto for the people of Tulungagung.
“In accordance with the letter from the State Secretariat, we have been requested to prepare Limousin-type cattle with a minimum weight of one tonne for the President’s sacrificial animal assistance,” he said. Based on data collection, the department has proposed three cattle that meet the criteria, with two originating from Karangrejo District and one from Ngantru District.
According to Agus, a team from the State Secretariat will conduct a direct survey to determine which single animal is deemed most suitable to serve as the President’s sacrificial animal in Tulungagung. Once the selection process is complete, the State Secretariat will negotiate the price directly with the farmers before payment is made via bank transfer.
Agus acknowledged that cattle prices typically rise due to high demand and the quality of the selected animals; however, the State Secretariat will adjust to the prevailing market rates. “The State Secretariat is certainly aware of the market prices, and negotiations will be conducted directly with the farmers,” he added.
Following the completion of the purchase, the Tulungagung Livestock and Animal Health Service will conduct a final health inspection on the selected cattle before they are transported to the slaughter site. The President’s sacrificial cattle are planned to be delivered to the Syariful Muttaqin Mosque in Boyolangu Village, Boyolangu District, Tulungagung, for slaughter during Eid al-Adha. “Once they are declared healthy and the administrative process is complete, we will deliver the cattle directly to the recipient location,” he concluded.
