Tulikup Market in Gianyar Catches Fire, Seven Kiosks Destroyed

A fire occurred in seven kiosks on the west side of the Tulikup Village Traditional Market, Jalan Raya Tulikup, Gianyar. The fruit and grocery kiosks belonging to residents of Banjar Satriya were engulfed in flames.

“The fire was at 12.00 Wita. Seven kiosks belonging to traders from the Banjar Adat Satria community were affected,” said Gianyar Police Public Relations Section Head Iptu Gusti Ngurah Suardita, met by detikBali at the scene on Wednesday (17/6/2026).

Suardita stated that firefighting efforts began when Gianyar Fire Department (Damkar) personnel arrived at 12.25 Wita. Four Gianyar fire engines worked to extinguish the blaze.

The fire was successfully put out an hour later. There were no casualties in the incident. All the kiosks that were engulfed in flames were closed at the time. “There were no casualties, because the kiosks were closed when the fire occurred,” he said.

Suardita said the cause of the fire could not yet be confirmed. According to detikBali’s observations, the seven destroyed kiosks had been cordoned off with police tape.

Several Inafis personnel from Gianyar Police and Gianyar Police Sector Chief Kompol I Made Adi Suryawan were seen examining several corners of one of the kiosks on the far west side. Inafis personnel recorded several findings from the fire debris.

“The cause of the fire cannot yet be confirmed. The initial suspicion is an electrical short circuit. Material losses are estimated at Rp 300 million,” he said.
