Tuesday Night: Long-Distance Train Passengers Still Crowding Pasar Senen Station
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Long-distance train passengers were still crowding the departure area at Pasar Senen Station, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday night (28/4/2026).
Kompas.com observations at the location showed hundreds of prospective passengers filling the waiting room, particularly near the entrance to the platform.
Some passengers were seen sitting in rows on the available seats, while others chose to sit in groups on the floor.
The atmosphere inside the station appeared crowded and bustling. Several families were gathered while guarding their luggage, while children sat or played in the children’s play area.
In another corner, a number of passengers were queuing at the service counter to inquire about schedule certainty or to process ticket cancellations.
Station staff were busy handling questions that kept coming from prospective passengers.
One of those affected by the delay was Devi (38), who was heading to Yogyakarta. Her train was supposed to depart at 18:10 WIB.
However, up to now, there has been no certainty about the delayed departure schedule.
“There has been no news at all from KAI. I’ve been waiting for almost an hour but there’s still no certainty,” said Riska when met by Kompas.com at the location on Tuesday.
“I didn’t know it would be delayed this badly. So I just came because I was sure it would depart,” she said.
According to Devi, if there had been clarity about the delay from the start, she would have chosen to postpone her trip.
“If I knew it would be delayed for a long time, I’d rather stay at home, maybe cancel and depart tomorrow,” she said.
Riska (43), a passenger heading to Purwokerto, experienced something similar. She admitted that she only learned about the delay after arriving at the station.
