PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) has completed the development project for the port and production facilities at the Tuban factory in East Java. Consequently, the company is targeting global market expansion through the broadening of export markets from these facilities. SIG’s President Director, Indrieffouny Indra, stated that the Rp1.4 trillion project represents a strategic step to enhance factory utilisation and global market expansion amid excess production capacity in the domestic market. “In addition to expanding penetration into high-value export markets, the strengths of this portfolio also reinforce SIG’s position in the global industry arena,” said Indrieffouny in his statement from Jakarta, quoted on Monday, 4 May 2026. The completion of the project is marked by the issuance of the Taking Over Certificate (TOC), which indicates that the project is substantially acceptable based on the results of the work testing. SIG stated that the infrastructure and systems in the project have met the required technical standards, safety, and operational readiness. The development of facilities in Tuban is designed to meet the demand for exports of specialised cement types with international-class specifications. The facilities include an increase in port capacity from 15,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT) to 50,000 DWT, the construction of a new integrated jetty trestle and jetty platform with existing facilities, and a ship loader with a capacity of 1,000 tonnes per hour. The company also built an integrated logistics system in the form of a 4.1 kilometre tube conveyor, as well as modern storage facilities comprising a blending silo with 8,000-tonne capacity, a 15,000-tonne clinker silo, and two cement silos each with 18,000-tonne capacity. With this infrastructure, the Tuban facilities can support an export capacity of up to 1 million tonnes of cement per year. The project is part of SIG’s strategic cooperation through its subsidiary PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk with Taiheiyo Cement Corporation, and involves PT Hutama Karya as the contractor. Furthermore, SIG is optimistic that the readiness of the infrastructure and global partnership support can increase the contribution of exports as a new growth engine, as well as strengthen Indonesia’s role in the global construction industry supply chain.
