TTU DPRD Speaker Re-examined Over Doctor Icha's Death
The Speaker of the Timor Tengah Utara (TTU) Regional House of Representatives in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Kristoforus Efi, has been re-examined by the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the NTT Regional Police in connection with the death of doctor Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni, known as Icha. The examination took place at the NTT Police headquarters. “Today I was examined again for five hours regarding this case,” Kristo said after the examination on Thursday (16/7/2026). According to Kristo, this was his second examination. He was previously questioned at the TTU Police Station on 4 July. During today’s session, investigators posed around 32 questions. “There were approximately 32 questions during the examination. So I have been examined twice now,” explained the Golkar Party politician. Kristo stated that the examination was related to the identities of three TTU DPRD members: Therezius Lazakar (Golkar), Robert Tubani (PKB), and Veronika Lake (PDIP). The three are suspected of intimidating Icha before her death. During the examination, Kristo said he submitted additional evidence in the form of a video testimony from Icha, recorded when he visited her on 17 June 2026 while she was undergoing treatment at Leona Kefamenanu Hospital. “The evidence is a video testimony from when I visited Doctor Icha at Leona Kefamenanu Hospital,” Kristo clarified. Following this, investigators further probed information regarding what Icha had conveyed to him, both that which was recorded in the video and that which was not. Kristo added that the DPRD Honorary Board has yet to issue a recommendation regarding the three members, with a decision expected next week. He could not confirm the outcome. “If it is criminal, a recommendation will be made. But the Honorary Board is currently still focusing on the code of ethics. After the recommendation is issued, we hope to immediately hold a plenary meeting to make a decision and announce the results of the Honorary Board’s work,” Kristo added.
