Tsunami victims flooded with aids

MALANG: Victims of the tsunami at Tamban coast, Malang, East Java, should not worry for lacking of the basic needs during they rebuild their houses, an official said.

The municipality which coordinates the aid has received more than Rp 67 million aid besides food, medicine and house materials, according to aid coordinator Gus Syamsudin as quoted by Antara on Thursday.

Tamban coast is one of some areas in East Java which was hit by tidal waves tsunami on the mid of June.

The stock of food is enough for the victims until next four months, he said, adding that some Rp 32 millions from the collected fund will be used to help rebuilding residents' houses.

The rest of the fund will be used to repair the 205 damaged boats, he said. (prs)
