The BMKG has ended the tsunami warning in Indonesia following the impact of a powerful M 7.7 earthquake in the Philippines. The strong earthquake caused small tsunamis in several Indonesian regions.

“The TSUNAMI early warning caused by the magnitude 7.7 earthquake, dated 08-Jun-26 06:37:42 WIB, is declared to have ended,” BMKG wrote, as observed at 10:15 WIB on Monday (8/6/2026).

Tsunamis were recorded in seven Indonesian regions. According to BMKG’s X account on Monday (8/6/2026), tsunamis initially occurred in three areas: Kedi in North Maluku, Ulu Siau, and Melonguane. In Kedi, the tsunami height reached 0.09 metres, Ulu Siau reached 0.18 metres, and Melonguane reached 0.19 metres.

“Detected in Kedi, North Maluku (07:20 WIB) 0.09 m, Ulu Siau (07:27 WIB) 0.18 m, Melonguane (07:27 WIB) 0.19 m #BMKG,” BMKG stated.

BMKG also reported tsunamis occurring in four other regions: Tahuna in North Sulawesi, Paleleh in Central Sulawesi, Tanjung Sidupa in North Sulawesi, and Talengan in North Sulawesi. The tsunami in Tahuna reached 0.30 metres, Paleleh 0.45 metres, Tanjung Sidupa 0.32 metres, and Talengan 0.75 metres.

“Tsunami due to Mag: 7.7 SR earthquake, detected in Tahuna (06:58 WIB) 0.30 m, Paleleh (07:34 WIB) 0.45 m, Tanjung Sidupa (07:39 WIB) 0.32 m, Talengan (08:20 WIB) 0.75 m BMKG,” BMKG reported.
