TSI committed to preserving cultural values in managing Bandung Zoo
Bandung City (ANTARA) - Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI) has reaffirmed its commitment to preserving the historical and cultural values if entrusted with managing Bandung Zoo.
The Chief Executive of Taman Safari Indonesia, Aswin Sumampau, stated that Bandung Zoo has strategic potential to develop into a modern conservation institution meeting international standards without losing its closeness to the people of Bandung City.
“TSI views Bandung Zoo as having strategic potential to develop into a modern conservation institution meeting international standards, without eliminating its historical values,” Aswin said in a statement received in Bandung on Thursday.
TSI stated that it has followed the initial stages of the management process facilitated by the Bandung City Government, including the market sounding forum related to the planned management of Bandung Zoo.
According to Aswin, the tender process for conservation institutions must be conducted professionally, transparently, and prioritising principles of good corporate governance.
“TSI hopes that the process can run transparently, accountably, and provide equal opportunities for parties with capacity and commitment to professional and sustainable conservation management,” he said.
He emphasised that TSI’s main focus is to ensure that safety, health, and animal welfare remain the top priority in every management decision.
“Our main focus is to ensure that all decisions taken still place the safety, health, and welfare of animals as the top priority.”
According to Farhan, the historical elements inherent in Bandung Zoo must be preserved as part of the identity and heritage of Bandung City.
“This aspect must be maintained in the new concept of the zoo to be carried out by the selection team,” he said.
