Try Sutrisno To Be Buried at Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery

General (Retired) Try Sutrisno, the sixth Vice-President of the Republic of Indonesia, has passed away at the age of 90. His remains will be buried at the Main National Heroes Cemetery (TMPNU) Kalibata in Jakarta.

“The burial is planned to take place at the Main National Heroes Cemetery Kalibata in South Jakarta,” said TNI Spokesperson Brigadier General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah on Monday (2 March 2026).

The TNI has expressed deep condolences over the passing of the deceased. Try Sutrisno died this morning at 06:58 WIB at the Army Central Hospital (RSPAD) Gatot Soebroto in Jakarta.

“May the deceased find God’s grace, and may the bereaved family be granted sincerity and patience,” he said.

Try Sutrisno’s remains are planned to be taken to a wake house at Purwakarta Street Number 6 RT 08 RW 05, Menteng, Central Jakarta.

Try Sutrisno was admitted to RSPAD Gatot Soebroto on 16 February 2026.

Try Sutrisno served as Indonesia’s sixth Vice-President from 1993 to 1998, accompanying Suharto who was then President of the Republic of Indonesia. He was born in Surabaya in 1935.

Try was one of the Vice-Presidents who came from a military background. He was also a graduate of the Army Engineering Academy in 1959.

During his military career, Try served as Chief of Staff of the Army from 1986 to 1988 and as Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces from 1988 to 1993.

He married Tuti Sutiawati in 1961 and was blessed with seven children: four sons and three daughters.
