Try Sutrisno Dies, State Secretary: One of the Nation's Finest Sons

JAKARTA — Indonesia’s Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi expressed profound condolences over the death of Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, Try Sutrisno.

Prasetyo referred to Try Sutrisno as one of the finest sons of the Indonesian nation.

“We certainly feel profound sorrow. He was one of the finest sons of the Indonesian nation who has dedicated himself, devoting his entire life to the nation and state,” Prasetyo told reporters on Monday (2 March 2026).

Prasetyo invited the public to pray for the deceased so that he receives the best place beside Allah Almighty.

“Let us certainly offer prayers so that he is forgiven for all his sins and all his deeds are accepted, especially since he was called to meet Allah Almighty during the sacred month of Ramadan,” he said.

Furthermore, he invited the younger generation to emulate Try Sutrisno’s example, particularly regarding dedication to the nation and state.

“And of course, let us, the younger generation and successors, emulate what he has demonstrated to us in providing the finest service to the nation, state and Indonesian society,” he added.

“We request that we give the best attention and recognition that we can provide to the late Bapak Try Sutrisno,” said Prasetyo.

Based on information received, Try Sutrisno died at the RSPAD military hospital at 06:58 WIB on that day.

According to plan, the body will be washed at the RSPAD funeral home and brought to a funeral home at Jalan Purwakarta Number 6, Menteng, Central Jakarta, for the lying-in-state.
