Try Sutrisno Dies; National Police Chief: Farewell Hero of the Nation
Jakarta – Several national figures have expressed condolences, including National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, following the passing of Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, Try Sutrisno.
The top officer of the National Police said he recalls the late figure as a senior who had made substantial contributions to the nation and state.
“Innalillahi Wa innailaihi Rojiun. We express our deepest condolences over the death of the sixth Vice President, the late Try Sutrisno. May the deceased achieve a blessed end and may his family be granted strength and steadfastness,” he said on Monday, 2 March 2026.
The former chief of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit described the deceased as an exemplary figure whose role was inseparable from the nation’s journey. Sutrisno’s passing is regarded as a tremendous loss for Indonesia.
“Farewell, late Bapak Try Sutrisno, farewell hero of the nation. We shall always remember all your teachings and good deeds; may you be granted the best place beside Him,” he said.
Previously reported, Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, General (retired) Try Sutrisno, passed away at RSPAD Gatot Subroto hospital in Jakarta on Monday, 2 March 2026 at approximately 06:58 West Indonesian Time.
“It is true (that the former Vice President Try Sutrisno has passed away),” said the former head of RSPAD, Lieutenant General (retired) Albertus Budi Sulistya when contacted on Monday, 2 March 2026.
The late Try Sutrisno’s body will be taken to his residence on Purwakarta Street Number 6, Menteng, Central Jakarta.
