Trust Level at 63.2 Percent, Poltracking: Reshuffle Could Lift Public Satisfaction with Prabowo-Gibran
The government of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka still holds strong public trust as capital to raise satisfaction levels by carrying out cabinet improvements.
Executive Director of Poltracking Indonesia, Hanta Yuda, said the Poltracking Indonesia survey recorded that 63.2 percent of the public trusts the government, while 51.9 percent supports a reshuffle.
In a release presentation titled “Reading the Trend of Public Satisfaction with the Prabowo-Gibran Government”, Hanta explained that the survey findings for the period of 14–20 August 2026 recorded that only 47 percent of the public expressed satisfaction with the performance of ministers, while 41.8 percent were dissatisfied.
In line with this, 51.9 percent of the public wants Prabowo to carry out a cabinet reshuffle, while 27.9 percent considers it unnecessary.
“The government (president and vice president) needs radical political steps to conduct a thorough evaluation and cabinet reshuffle,” said Hanta, quoted from the Poltracking TV YouTube channel, Monday, 31 August 2026.
He said President Prabowo has sufficient public trust capital to carry out an evaluation and improvement of the cabinet in order to raise satisfaction levels. At the same time, the push for changes in the cabinet composition comes from the majority of the public.
According to him, a reshuffle should not merely be seen as a political decision to change the composition of ministers. Cabinet changes need to be directed at ensuring that strategic government positions are filled by figures with competence, in order to translate the vision and mission of Prabowo-Gibran.
“The President must prioritise technocratic capacity and a track record of professionalism. This includes public acceptance as the main criterion above political compromise,” he said.
Strengthening the cabinet, according to him, requires more effective coordination between ministries, especially in facing strategic issues and problems that require a rapid response. Therefore, the position of Coordinating Minister is considered to have an important role as a link as well as controller of cross-sector coordination.
“President Prabowo needs a Coordinating Minister figure who is firm and responsive. A presidential aide who is able to act as a bumper for crucial issues,” said Hanta.
He assessed that a strong Coordinating Minister figure can help the government face strategic problems without directly burdening the presidential institution. The presence of such a figure can also strengthen coordination while maintaining the effectiveness of the government’s political communication.
“For example, like the strategic role of Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan in the era of President Jokowi. The presence of a capable Coordinating Minister will secure the authority of the presidential institution,” he said.
