Trust in RI man power

Trust in RI man power

From Merdeka

What had been predicted by some scholars like Amien Rais concerning the Busang gold mine has become fact. The Busang gold reserve which has been a controversial issue for some time is nothing but a hoax.

It is generally reasoned that business in the field of minerals and mining is full of risk and requires an investment of billions or even trillions of rupiah. It is indeed a megaproject. There is no doubt about that.

I believe that the potential of Indonesian people in the mining sector (including gold mining) should not be doubted. However, concerns about policies, trust and financial availability should be noted. Policies are often not oriented to the interest of the people. Trust should be placed upon the shoulders of Indonesian man power, and the finance aspect should involve the government, state-owned firms and the private sector.

Cooperatives can also play important roles in this area. It should be realized that the nation's well-being can be achieved through cooperatives. For this purpose it should be deemed necessary to improve and expand the organization and management of cooperatives.

This new strategy of framing technical policies in the field of mining by bringing in the service of cooperatives should be handled by professional human resources, so that research and development in the mining sector and other fields can be entrusted to Indonesian citizens.
