Trump's Visit to China Expected to Strengthen Stability in China-US Relations
Beijing (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump’s state visit to China, the first by a US president in nearly nine years, is expected to make the development of China-US relations more strategic, constructive, and stable.
A review of bilateral relations, which have maintained overall stability despite various ups and downs, shows that head-of-state diplomacy has always served as an “anchor” for those relations, playing an irreplaceable strategic guiding role and providing important strategic protection for the enhancement and development of bilateral ties.
For more than a year, Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Trump have maintained good communication, including through several telephone calls and a successful meeting in Busan, South Korea, setting the direction and course for bilateral relations.
Since the meeting in Busan in October last year, China-US relations have maintained overall stability and positive momentum, a development welcomed by both countries and the international community.
As Xi has said, dialogue is better than confrontation. Both sides should take a broad view and recognise the long-term benefits of cooperation. Meanwhile, the world today faces many complex challenges. China and the US can jointly shoulder responsibilities as major countries.
This year, both China and the US have important points on their respective agendas. China has begun the period of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).
Meanwhile, the US will celebrate its 250th anniversary of independence. China will also host the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, while the US will host the Group of 20 (G20) Summit.

As the world’s largest developing country and the largest developed country, China and the US will both benefit from cooperation and be harmed by confrontation. This is a well-tested truth. In a world filled with interconnected changes and turmoil, stable China-US relations are far more important than ever in bringing the stability the world desperately needs.
The stable, healthy, and sustainable development of China-US relations requires both sides to move in the same direction with a spirit of equality, mutual respect, and mutual benefit, strengthen dialogue and communication, manage differences well, and expand practical cooperation.
As China-US relations are among the most important bilateral relationships in the world today, the strategic choices of the two countries will influence the future global landscape.
