Trump's Ultimatum to Iran: No Deal Unless Iran Surrenders Unconditionally

President of the United States (US) Donald Trump has issued the latest ultimatum to Iran, demanding that Tehran surrender immediately to end the war that is raging. The message was posted on his Truth Social platform. Trump said the only deal that could be reached with Iran would be if the country surrendered unconditionally. ‘There is no deal with Iran except unconditional surrender,’ Trump wrote, AFP reported, on Friday (6 March 2026). Trump’s post appeared as Israel bombarded regime targets in Tehran and Hizbollah positions in Beirut. US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth had previously said that US attacks on Iran ‘will escalate dramatically.’ Trump argued that after Iran’s surrender, the United States and its allies would work to steer Iran in a better direction, and he promised an economically stronger Iran. Closing the post, Trump wrote a new slogan: Make Iran Great Again (MIGA). The slogan is a variant of Make America Great Again, which Trump has long championed. Trump had previously insisted that he should have a role in selecting Iran’s next supreme leader after the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a result of US-Israeli attacks. Trump named Khamenei’s son, Motjaba Khamenei, who was the frontrunner for the next supreme leader of Iran, as unacceptable. ‘Khamenei’s son is less influential,’ Trump said in an interview with Axios, as reported by AFP and Al Arabiya. ‘I must be involved in that appointment, as with Delcy,’ the US President said, comparing Iran’s situation to Venezuela, where interim president Delcy Rodriguez was willing to cooperate with the US under threat of violence after Nicolas Maduro’s removal.
