REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, WASHINGTON – The US President has once again issued threats against Iran as the deadline for opening the Strait of Hormuz draws nearer. The tone of his post shows growing anger because Iran remains unmoved by the threats.

“The entire civilisation will die tonight, never to be revived again,” he began, in a post on his Truth Social platform.

“I don’t want that to happen, but it might. However, now we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radical thinking dominates, perhaps something revolutionary and amazing could happen,” he continued.

“WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complicated history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!”

Hassan Ahmadian, Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Tehran, said the latest threat from the US President shows he is increasingly “angry and desperate.”

“His tone is getting harsher day by day, which I think indicates he is in trouble,” Ahmadian said. “He wants his threats to weigh more heavily on Iran and force them to change their minds.”

The post added that even if Trump cannot fulfil his threats, he can strike Iran harder, and Tehran has promised to respond appropriately. “This is a trap that started from the beginning of this war and continues without him achieving his goal,” Ahmadian said.

Meanwhile, Iranian officials reported damage to at least two bridges, railway infrastructure, and major highways on Tuesday as part of a deadly wave of US-Israel airstrikes on infrastructure targets.

A bridge near the city of Qom and another connecting railway lines in central Kashan were destroyed, according to local officials quoted by state media.

Two people were killed and three others injured in Kashan, said senior regional security official Akbar Salehi, according to Iran’s IRNA news agency.

A major highway in northern Iran connecting the main city of Tabriz in the north with Tehran via Zanjan was also closed after a disaster about 90 kilometres outside Tabriz, an official told IRNA.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s Telegram channel said the attack hit an overpass. The Mizan news agency also reported an attack on railway tracks in Karaj, outside Tehran, with images showing Red Crescent rescue teams carrying an injured man on a stretcher.
