Trump's Son-in-Law Accuses Netanyahu of Obstructing US Plan for Gaza
Sharp differences of opinion have reportedly emerged between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump and one of his advisers, over the US peace plan for the Gaza Strip.
Kushner and Netanyahu clashed over a proposed roadmap for post-war governance in the Gaza Strip, which the Israeli prime minister has rejected.
A report by Israeli television channel Channel 14, as cited by Middle East Monitor on Tuesday (11/8/2026), said discussions between the two sides had grown increasingly heated in recent days, with Kushner directly accusing Netanyahu of obstructing the implementation of the US-backed plan.
The plan is currently being drafted in coordination with regional and international partners.
Supporters of the plan argue that its success depends on immediate practical steps to transition to a new phase in the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu, however, according to Channel 14, insists on setting strict security conditions before agreeing to any political or administrative arrangements.
The Channel 14 report added that during the consultations, Netanyahu told Kushner that Israel would not agree to any formula for the management or restructuring of the Gaza Strip until its primary objective — the complete demilitarisation of the Palestinian enclave — had been achieved.
Israel insists that the demilitarisation of Gaza requires the full surrender and removal of all weapons and military infrastructure controlled by Palestinian factions in the territory.
Such differences of view highlight the gap between a political approach that pushes for rapid post-war arrangements and Israel’s insistence on demanding full security guarantees on the ground as a prerequisite for any progress.
As various international parties seek to establish a framework for governance and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli government continues to insist that security guarantees must take precedence over all other arrangements.
There has so far been no direct response from either US or Israeli authorities to the media report.
