The Donald Trump administration is reportedly drafting a comprehensive post-war strategy focused on regional efforts to contain Iranian influence and expand the normalisation of relations between Israel and its neighbouring countries. According to reports from US officials and sources familiar with the matter, this plan is intended to guide US foreign policy in the Middle East during the final two years of Trump’s term.

This strategy, which is still in the early stages of development, involves coordination at both senior political and technical inter-agency levels within the US. President Trump has reportedly held two meetings with senior advisers in recent weeks to discuss grand ideas that he described as something far greater for the Middle East once the conflict with Iran concludes.

According to sources, there are three main elements serving as the pillars of this strategy. This planning is taking place in the shadow of two major political events: the general election in Israel on 27 October and the US midterm elections this coming November. The Trump administration hopes that the new Israeli government will be able to cooperate within this post-war strategy.

A source familiar with the process stated that the draft strategy will require several more weeks to be finalised. “They are working on it, but it is not yet mature,” said the source. The greatest challenge remains ensuring whether all US allies in the region are willing to join this new regional alignment.
