Trump's Dialogue with Iran, Netanyahu: He Promises to Protect Israel's Interests
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claims to have spoken with United States President Donald Trump. He stated that the US-Israel military success in Iran could be transformed into an agreement to protect Israel’s interests.
“President Trump believes there is an opportunity to utilise the extraordinary achievements of the IDF and the US military to realise the war’s objectives in an agreement, an agreement that will protect our vital interests,” Netanyahu said in a video statement, as reported by AFP on Tuesday (24/3/2026).
“We will protect our vital interests in any circumstances,” he continued.
Netanyahu also mentioned that he and Trump pledged to continue attacking Iran and Lebanon. “At the same time, we continue to strike both in Iran and in Lebanon,” he added.
Furthermore, Netanyahu emphasised that the ongoing attacks are “destroying Iran’s missile programme and nuclear programme” and also “inflicting heavy damage on Hezbollah”.
“A few days ago, we eliminated two more nuclear scientists (from Iran), and this is not the end,” he said.
Netanyahu’s comments came shortly after Trump announced “very good” talks with an unnamed Iranian official.
Trump’s sudden shift to diplomacy occurred just hours before his ultimatum on Monday evening, which has now been postponed, demanding that Tehran reopen the Strait of Hormuz shipping lanes—or see the US military “destroy” its power plants.
