US President Donald Trump has once again intensified pressure on Iran with threats of total destruction to Tehran’s vital infrastructure. The ultimatum was delivered ahead of the deadline he set regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.

In a White House press conference on Monday (6 April) US time or Tuesday (7 April) WIB, Trump stated that a major attack could occur in a very short time. The primary targets are civilian infrastructure such as bridges and power plants.

“The entire country could be destroyed in one night, and that night could be tomorrow night,” Trump said.

“Every bridge in Iran will be destroyed before midnight tomorrow, and all power plants will stop operating. They will burn, explode, and will not be used again,” he added.

The threat emerged alongside the deadline he gave to Iran until Tuesday night to reopen the shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump demanded guarantees of free oil flow through that strategic route or Iran would face major military consequences. “There will be total destruction, and it could happen in just four hours,” he said.

Iran rejected the 15-point US peace proposal and opted to push for a permanent end to the conflict. Tehran conveyed its response through Pakistan in a document containing 10 points. In its explanation, Iran cited previous experiences as the main reason for not accepting the ceasefire scheme.

Iran put forward several demands, including the cessation of conflict in the region, security guarantees for shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, reconstruction of war-affected areas, and the lifting of international sanctions.

Based on the latest available tracking footage, the ships are near Oman after changing direction.

Iran demands guarantees that it will not be attacked again in the future, as well as the cessation of Israeli attacks on its ally, Hezbollah, in southern Lebanon.

Latest reports from US intelligence agencies reveal that Iran is suspected of using a deception strategy with fake weapons.

Iran is showing a hardline stance ahead of the US President Donald Trump’s ultimatum deadline regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. As the deadline approaches, Tehran does not back down.

The Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Boroujerdi met with the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) to discuss the security of the Strait of Hormuz and negotiations for the release of the Indonesian tanker ship detained due to the conflict.

Iranian Ambassador Kazem Jalali emphasised the exclusive rights of coastal states to control the Strait of Hormuz amid the blockade and the global rise in energy prices.

Donald Trump issued a harsh ultimatum to Iran regarding the Strait of Hormuz. On the other hand, Asian countries are pursuing diplomatic routes to secure oil supplies.
