Trump Will Not Lift Iran Port Blockade Until Peace Agreement Reached

US President Donald Trump has said that his side will not lift the blockade on Iran’s ports. He will do this until Tehran agrees to a peace agreement to end the war.

“BLOCKADE, which we will not lift until there is an ‘AGREEMENT,’ is really destroying Iran,” Trump said on social media, as reported by AFP, Tuesday (21/4/2026).

Trump threatened to annihilate Iran. Traffic in the Strait of Hormuz is known to have stopped because Tehran and Washington have imposed separate blockades.

“They are losing $500 million per day, a figure that is not sustainable, even in the short term,” he said.

Previously, in an interview with Bloomberg as reported by CNN, Tuesday (21/4/2026), Trump said that the US delegation is currently flying to Pakistan to start the second round of negotiations with Iran. Trump stated that the ceasefire with Iran might not be extended if no agreement is reached in the negotiations in Pakistan.

“It is very unlikely that I will extend it,” said Trump.

The US and Iran ceasefire has been in place since 7 April for two weeks. Trump said he is still waiting for the results of the latest negotiations with Iran to determine the next steps regarding the ceasefire.

“I will not rush into making a bad deal. We have plenty of time,” Trump said.

When asked if he expected fighting to resume soon if they fail to reach an agreement, Trump said, “If there is no agreement, I certainly expect it.”
