Trump warns Ukraine against attacking American interests

Moscow (ANTARA) - The US President Donald Trump’s administration warned the Ukrainian government that Kyiv’s attacks on Russian oil facilities in the Black Sea last year impacted US investments in Kazakhstan, said Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States, Olga Stefanishyna.

“We have heard that Ukraine’s attack on Novorossiysk affected some American investments made through Kazakhstan. And the State Department has warned us to refrain from, you know, attacking American interests,” Stefanishyna told CNN on Tuesday.

The Ambassador said that the message from the US State Department affirmed the limited economic interests of the United States in Ukraine compared to Kazakhstan, and regretted that during Ukraine’s 35 years of independence, many opportunities were missed without building a similar economic position.

The US oil and gas company, Chevron, is a major shareholder in the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), which transports oil from Kazakh fields to the Black Sea for export.

At the end of November 2025, Ukrainian drones attacked critical CPC infrastructure in the waters of the port of Novorossiysk. As a result, Kazakh oil exports also decreased.
