Trump Warns Russia and China Against Joining Iran War
US President Donald Trump has urged Russia and China not to become involved in the war against Iran, warning that bad things would happen if the two countries took part.
As reported by detikcom on Saturday (25/7/2026), the Middle East has heated up again after the US launched its latest wave of attacks on Iran several days ago. Trump is even reportedly considering launching a fresh large-scale assault on Iran.
The latest US military operation against Iran is said to potentially exceed the strikes carried out during Operation Epic Fury earlier this year.
Trump made the remarks, as reported by Middle East Monitor, in a recent interview with the US media outlet Axios on Thursday (23/7).
In the interview, Trump said he was close to making a decision regarding the possible large-scale US attack. However, he stressed that no final decision had yet been made.
Trump Warns Russia and China
Trump expressed confidence that China or Russia were not ‘participating’ in the ongoing Iran war. However, he warned that if they became involved, ‘it would be very bad for them’.
“President Xi, at our recent meeting in Beijing, China, told me that he would not, under any circumstances, give or sell weapons to the Islamic Republic of Iran - and that statement includes Chinese companies,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, as reported by Al Arabiya.
Trump said Russian President Vladimir Putin had also told him that he would not sell weapons to Iran, and that he believed Russia and China were not participating in the Iran conflict.
“If they do, it would be very bad for them - of course it is not in their best interest,” Trump wrote.
The United States and Iran have been at war since the US and Israel launched attacks in February, killing senior Iranian officials, including the country’s supreme leader.
Four people familiar with US intelligence said Iran’s strike on CIA targets in the Gulf at the start of the war had prompted US intelligence to investigate whether Russia had assisted Iran with targeting information or drone technology.
The United States has previously imposed sanctions on individuals and companies in Russia and China for helping Iran purchase weapons.
