Trump warns Iran, will no longer be lenient on nuclear issue
Istanbul (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump urged Iran on Wednesday to quickly “act more intelligently” regarding the nuclear agreement, while emphasising that he would no longer be lenient.
“Iran cannot solve its problems. They do not understand how to sign a non-nuclear agreement. They must quickly act more intelligently,” Trump said via the Truth Social platform.
The post also featured an image of Trump wearing a suit and sunglasses while holding a firearm, with a background of explosions in the Iranian landscape.
The United States and Israel launched joint strikes against Iran on 28 February, which were subsequently retaliated against by Tehran with attacks on US interests in the region, including in several Gulf countries.
A ceasefire was announced on 8 April through mediation by Pakistan, followed by negotiations in Islamabad on 11–12 April, but they ended without an agreement.
Trump then stated that the ceasefire had been extended at Pakistan’s request while awaiting a new proposal from Tehran.
On Monday, Trump indicated that he would likely not accept Iran’s latest proposal to end the war, after Tehran suggested reopening the Strait of Hormuz with discussions on the nuclear programme postponed to the next stage.
