US President Donald Trump will meet directly with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing this week. The meeting between the leaders of the world’s two largest economic powers will discuss geopolitical dynamics, including trade tensions between the US and China.

Trump is also bringing ‘global elites’, namely the most influential individuals leading major US-based companies. They include SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Apple CEO Tim Cook, GE Aerospace CEO Larry Culp, and Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg.

This was confirmed directly by the White House to Reuters. In addition to the leaders of US giants, several other executives will participate in the historic US-China discussions.

They are Dina Powell McCormick from Meta, Larry Fink from BlackRock, Stephen Schwarzman from Blackstone, Sanjay Mehrotra from Micron, Michael Miebach from Mastercard, Cristiano Amon from Qualcomm, and Ryan McInerney from Visa.

Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins was invited by the White House to join the trip to China but could not attend because the company’s financial reports will be released this week, according to a company spokesperson.

According to a previous Reuters report, China and the US are predicted to sign a joint agreement on investment and trade. Meanwhile, China is expected to announce the purchase of Boeing aircraft, as well as US energy and agricultural products.

The two countries will also discuss extending the ‘truce’ in the trade war, which allows rare earth minerals to be shipped from China to the US.

Ortberg told Reuters in April that Boeing is relying on the Trump administration to help open the ‘tap’ for large-scale orders from China.

According to sources, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is not joining Trump’s delegation to Beijing. The source said Huang was not invited because the White House is focusing on issues related to agriculture and commercial aviation.

Trump and Xi Jinping’s last meeting took place in October 2025 in South Korea. At that time, they agreed to delay the trade war triggered by the imposition of three-digit high tariffs on Chinese goods, after Beijing threatened to restrict the global supply chain for rare earth minerals.
