WASHINGTON (ANTARA) - President Donald Trump said the United States (US) is ‘slowly but surely’ moving closer to a strong agreement with Iran, but if that does not happen, the US will return to military operations.

‘If you rush, you won’t get a good deal. And slowly but surely, I think we are getting what we want. And if we don’t get what we want, we will end it differently,’ Trump said in an interview with his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, on Fox News.

On 28 February, the US and Israel launched attacks on several targets in Iran, including Tehran, killing over 3,000 people and causing infrastructure damage.

The warring parties, Washington and Tehran, then announced a ceasefire on 8 April.

Subsequent talks in Islamabad, Pakistan concluded without resolution. Although there were no reports of hostilities resuming, the US has imposed a blockade on Iranian ports.
