Trump: US-Iran negotiations remain possible

Washington (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday (9/9) that Washington is not actively pursuing negotiations with Tehran, but they are not ruling out the possibility of doing so.

“We are not pushing for (negotiations with Iran). Yes, negotiations may occur, but it is not something we are currently seeking,” Trump told reporters.

On 28 February, the United States and Israel launched attacks against several targets in Iran. Iran subsequently retaliated by launching strikes against several opposing targets.

In mid-June, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum of understanding to cease hostilities. However, hostilities resumed shortly thereafter.

The conflict remains unresolved, with sporadic clashes continuing to break out.

Nevertheless, Washington has chosen to increase economic pressure on Iran as an effort to end the conflict by creating additional financial pressure on Tehran.
