Trump: US-Iran Dialogue Postponed Until Khamenei's Funeral
Hamilton, Canada (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump stated on Friday that Iran is very eager to reach a deal with America, but talks have been postponed during the official funeral process of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, which has commenced in Iran.
Trump made the statement while attending the 250th anniversary celebrations of US independence at Mount Rushmore in South Dakota, known as America 250, while praising the superpower’s military record.
“We have built the most resilient and dominant military on earth, and emerged as winners in two world wars,” he said, claiming that the Cold War had relegated America’s rivals to the annals of history.
Commenting on recent tensions, Trump stated: “We conquered Venezuela in just one day and paralysed Iran until they begged for peace. They truly long for peace. We have even kindly given them a week to mourn.”
He also praised the significant anniversary, arguing that “at 20a0250 years old, America is the oldest republic on Earth. We are the freest nation on Earth. We have the most just and enduring constitution on Earth.”
“No one has ever given more to charity, ended more hunger, cured more diseases, or done more to uplift humanity than the American people,” he said.
Trump also warned of what he described as a resurging ideological threat within the country.
“Now there is a resurgence of the communist threat in our country, including from newcomers to this nation who adhere to ideas that are completely contrary to our way of life and our great success,” he said.
He added that communism is a deadly threat to American freedom, calling it a greater threat to the nation than World War I, World War II, Pearl Harbor, and even 9/11.
“America will never become a communist country,” Trump said.
He then touched upon domestic politics. “We will only lose the midterms if we allow ourselves to lose,” he remarked.
According to him, the abolition of the filibuster rule and the passage of the “Save America Act” would ensure the Republican Party does not lose an election for 100 years.
