Trump: US could cripple Iran's entire infrastructure in two days
Istanbul (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump said on Friday (15/5) that Washington could quickly destroy all the infrastructure in Iran, while asserting that he never underestimated Iran’s resilience in war.
“I don’t underestimate anything. We hit them very hard,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News after he visited China.
“The US let their bridges, we let their electric capacity. We could cripple all of that in two days. All of it,” he added.
Trump also described the repeated failures in diplomacy with Iran, saying that negotiations have become unreliable and unpredictable.
“They were going to give us everything, everything we wanted, and every time they made a deal, the next day it was as if we never had the conversation. It happened about five times. There’s something wrong with them, they’re actually crazy,” he said.
The US president also described the possible solution to the problem as a choice between escalation and restraint.
“It can end violently or non-violently, and I much prefer non-violently,” said the US leader.
When asked about the US midterm elections in November, Trump said that he would not let the elections determine what will happen regarding Iran, while reiterating his position that Iran must not have a nuclear program.
