Washington (ANTARA) - Negotiations between the United States and Iran are still ongoing, with discussions proceeding “very well,” US President Donald Trump said on Saturday.

“We are having very good talks. It’s going very well,” Trump said at an event at the White House.

Trump also promised to provide additional information on the progress of the talks before the end of Saturday.

The United States is taking a “hard line” in negotiations with Iran, he said, adding that Tehran will find it difficult to try to “squeeze” the US.

On Friday (17/4), Axios reported that the second round of negotiations between the United States and Iran could take place on 19 April in Islamabad.

The US and Israel launched attacks on targets in Iran, including in Tehran, on 28 February. The attacks caused damage and civilian casualties. Iran then retaliated by attacking Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East.

On 7 April, Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire. Subsequent talks in Islamabad ended without results.

Although there has been no announcement of the resumption of hostilities, the US has begun blockading Iranian ports. Mediators are currently working to arrange a new round of negotiations.
