Trump Urges UK to Begin North Sea Oil Production

US President Donald Trump has again urged the British government to immediately begin oil production in the North Sea to boost the country’s economy. Bloomberg previously reported that incoming Prime Minister Andy Burnham plans to approve several new oil exploitation projects in the waters. Burnham was elected as the new leader of the ruling Labour Party on Friday (17/7), paving the way for him to lead the government. He is scheduled to be sworn in as the new British prime minister on Monday (20/7), replacing Keir Starmer who resigned on 22 June. “The new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, has stated he will fully open up the valuable North Sea Oil!” Trump said on his social media platform, Truth Social. He stated the region is one of the world’s largest sources of high-quality oil, with production capacity for hundreds of years to come, providing ample opportunity to discover new oil reserves. Trump claimed the move would bring significant change to the British economy. “It will change England, from a Poverty-stricken Disaster, into one of the Richest Countries anywhere in the World!” he added. Trump has repeatedly suggested the British government increase its North Sea oil exploitation.
