Trump urges IRGC to lay down weapons
Jakarta (ANTARA) – US President Donald Trump has called for members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and all Iranian police to immediately lay down their weapons and receive full immunity.
“Lay down your weapons. You will be treated fairly with total immunity, or you will face certain death,” Trump said in a video posted to his Truth Social media platform, monitored in Jakarta on Saturday (28 February).
Trump also told the Iranian people that their freedom is near at hand and called on them to seize control of the government following the conclusion of American strikes.
He emphasised that America supports them with great power and urged them to determine their own destiny for the sake of a prosperous future soon to be realised.
“This is the time to act. Do not let this opportunity slip away,” Trump said.
Earlier on Saturday (28 February), it was reported that Israel had launched a preemptive strike against Iran. This strike represents the second attack under Trump following an earlier strike on Iran in June 2025.
US President Donald Trump stated that American forces launched a major military operation in Iran to protect its people by eliminating what he described as threats stemming from alleged Iranian nuclear weapons development.
The United States and Iran have conducted three rounds of indirect negotiations on Iran’s nuclear programme, mediated by Oman.
The first and second rounds of negotiations were held earlier this month in Muscat and Geneva, focusing on limiting uranium enrichment and supplies in exchange for sanctions relief. The third round took place on Thursday (26 February) in Geneva.
