Trump Urges Iran to Stop Imposing Tolls in the Strait of Hormuz

Washington - US President Donald Trump has stated that, based on several reports, Iran is imposing fees on tanker ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, and he has urged Tehran to stop this practice. “There are reports that Iran is charging fees to tanker ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. They should not do that and, if they are doing it, they should stop now!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. On Tuesday (7/4) evening, Trump said he had approved a two-week bilateral ceasefire with Iran, noting that Iran had also agreed to open the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s Supreme National Security Council subsequently stated that Tehran would begin talks with the US in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, on Friday. Trump stated that the cessation of Israeli attacks in Lebanon was not included in the agreement with Iran due to the Hezbollah group. However, Iran considers this a violation of the ceasefire it reached with the US.
