Trump Urges Iran to Act Wisely on Nuclear Deal
US President Donald Trump has warned Iran to “act wisely” regarding the nuclear deal. Trump assessed that Tehran now cannot “manage themselves”.
The latest warning was issued by Trump as peace efforts between Washington and Tehran, mediated by Pakistan, to end the war have stalled.
“Iran cannot manage themselves. They do not know how to sign a non-nuclear deal. They should act wisely soon!” Trump stated in his latest statement via Truth Social, as reported by Al Arabiya and Anadolu Agency, on Wednesday (29/4/2026).
Trump’s post was accompanied by an AI-generated photo of himself wearing a black suit and sunglasses, holding a rifle, with a series of explosions in the Iranian landscape as the background.
The photo was captioned: “No More Mr. Nice Guy!”
Trump’s post came a day after he described Iran as in a “state of collapse” and claimed that Tehran had asked Washington to reopen the Strait of Hormuz “as soon as possible”.
“Iran has just told us that they are in a ‘state of collapse’. They want us to ‘Open the Strait of Hormuz’ as soon as possible, because they are trying to resolve their leadership situation (which I believe they can do!),” Trump wrote via Truth Social on Tuesday (28/4).
He did not provide further details on the communication with Iran, and there has been no direct confirmation from Tehran officials.
The US and Israel launched a large-scale joint attack on Iran on 28 February. Tehran retaliated with waves of missile and drone attacks on targets in Israel and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
A temporary ceasefire, initially in effect for two weeks, announced on 7 April, has suspended the fighting. The ceasefire was followed by US-Iran peace talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, on 11-12 April, but the negotiations ended without any agreement.
Tensions rose again before Trump unilaterally extended the ceasefire without a specified timeframe, which he described as at Pakistan’s request as mediator. However, it is estimated that Trump’s move aims to provide more time to bring the US-Iran negotiators back together.
On Monday (27/4), Trump signalled that he is likely not to accept Iran’s latest proposal to end the war. The proposal suggested reopening the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for the US lifting its naval blockade, while postponing nuclear talks for subsequent negotiations.
