Washington (ANTARA) — US President Donald Trump has pledged to ban the use of the term “artificial intelligence” (AI) soon, after saying some time ago that he preferred the term “super intelligence”.

“Soon, we will officially ban the term ‘AI/artificial intelligence’ in all related documents and everywhere else, because the term is inaccurate,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform on Tuesday (27 October).

However, Trump did not provide further details about how the ban would be implemented or what penalties would apply to violators.

Addressing the United Nations General Assembly on 22 September, Trump announced that the US would begin using the term “super intelligence” instead of “artificial intelligence”.

He also said his administration would label anyone who refused to use “super intelligence” and continued to prefer “artificial intelligence” as an enemy.

Responding to Trump’s insistence on using the term “super intelligence”, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alimov previously expressed concern about the move.

“This step is consistent with the US strategy to strengthen its technological dominance, or to ‘win the AI race’,” Alimov said.
