Trump Threatens 'Total Destruction' of Iran if Negotiations Fail
US President Donald Trump has threatened “total destruction” of Iran if the negotiations being held in Pakistan end in failure. Trump warned that the US military is preparing itself with the “best ammunition” to launch another attack on Iran if no agreement is reached.
“We are rearranging. We are filling ships with the best ammunition, the best weapons ever made, even better than those we used before, and we have destroyed them,” Trump told the New York Post, as reported by Al Arabiya on Saturday (11/4/2026).
In a statement issued shortly after US Vice President JD Vance departed for Islamabad, Pakistan, to lead the US delegation in talks with Iran, Trump alluded to the “total destruction” of Iran.
Vance will join the US Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, to negotiate a permanent peace following a two-week ceasefire agreed between the US and Iran on Tuesday (7/4).
“We are filling ships with the best weapons ever made, even at a higher level than those we used before to carry out total destruction,” Trump stressed in his statement.
“And if we do not reach an agreement, we will use them, and we will use them very effectively,” he warned.
Furthermore, Trump questioned the honesty of the Iranian negotiation team, led by the parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, as well as other Tehran officials.
Trump stated that the US is dealing with people “whom we do not know if they are telling the truth or not.”
“In front of us, they remove all nuclear weapons, everything is gone. And then they go out to the press and say, ‘No, we want to enrich uranium.’ So we will find out,” Trump said.
In a separate statement via social media platform Truth Social, Trump said that Iran “seems not to realise that they have no cards left, except for short-term blackmail against the world by using international waterways.”
“The only reason they are still alive today is to negotiate!” he added.
