US President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran, claiming that 1,000 missiles are ready to obliterate the country if Tehran attempts to assassinate him. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated, ‘One thousand missiles are locked, loaded, and pointed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands more to follow shortly, should the Iranian government act upon its threats, announced in many parts of the world, to kill, or attempt to kill, a sitting President of the United States, in this case, ME!’ He added that orders had been given and the US military was ready, willing, and able, for a period of one year, which could be extended, to destroy and annihilate the entire territory of Iran. The threat came after Israel provided the US with new intelligence regarding an Iranian plot to kill Trump. US media reported on the development, citing anonymous sources who indicated that while Washington had been monitoring possible threats, the Israeli warning was new and concerned a specific plan. Tehran has for years vowed to avenge the death of General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force, who was killed in a US drone strike ordered by Trump in January 2020. Trump himself acknowledged the threat, telling reporters aboard Air Force One that he was aware his name was on Tehran’s target list.
