Trump Threatens to Bombard Iran Again Tonight

US President Donald Trump has threatened to attack and bombard Iran again on Wednesday (8/7/2026) evening. The threat was made shortly after Trump claimed that a temporary ceasefire agreement with Iran had ended. “I will give a little warning: we will hit them (Iran) hard tonight,” Trump told reporters at the NATO summit in Turkey on Wednesday, as quoted by Al Arabiya. Trump accused Iranian officials of not adhering to the agreement negotiated by the two countries. He therefore intends to attack Iran again. In an earlier statement to the media on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump said that the memorandum of understanding serving as an initial ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran had expired. Although he did not explicitly state that the US would return to a full-scale war with Iran, Trump’s comments immediately caused world oil prices to soar. Trump said the US goal in fighting Iran is to ensure the country will never develop and possess nuclear weapons. He suggested that this objective might need to be achieved without an agreement. “They will never build a nuclear weapon under our deal, but I don’t know if we will have a deal. We might do it without a deal, because you know, it’s easier, because these people, they lie and they cheat,” Trump said. On Tuesday (7/7/2026), the US military had launched airstrikes on several areas in Iran. The strikes were carried out while Iran was still conducting the funeral procession for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the strikes on Iran were a response to attacks on three commercial vessels by Iran as they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz. “The aggression demonstrated by Iran is unprovoked, dangerous, and a clear violation of the ceasefire,” CENTCOM stated via its X account.
