Trump Threatens to Annihilate Iran if Assassinated: 1,000 Missiles at the Ready
President Donald Trump has issued a stark threat to Iran, stating the United States would “destroy and annihilate the entire territory of Iran” if the country attempted or succeeded in assassinating him. “1,000 missiles are ready and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands more to follow shortly, if the Iranian Government acts on its threats, announced in many corners of the world, to kill, or attempt to kill, the sitting President of the United States, in this case, ME!” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social. “The orders have been given, and the US Military is ready, willing, and able, for a period of one year, which can be extended, to destroy and annihilate the entire territory of Iran,” he said. The statement follows Israel providing the United States with new and “specific” intelligence this week about a plot to kill Trump. US media reported on the development on Thursday, amid escalating attacks between the US and Iran, heightening fears of a return to all-out war. CNN reported that Washington had been monitoring “a series of intelligence reports” about possible plans to kill Trump, but the warning from Israel was new and concerned a specific plot. The Wall Street Journal also cited anonymous sources reporting that the intelligence indicated the plot was “new”. Tehran has for years vowed to retaliate against Trump for ordering the killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force, in January 2020. Trump has acknowledged he is a target of Iranian threats, recently stating he was aware his name was on Tehran’s target list. “They want to take out the US leader – me. I’m on every list. I saw this morning that I’m on every one of their lists. And so far I guess I’ve been a little bit lucky, but maybe that luck won’t last long,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One while returning from a NATO summit in Turkey.
