Trump Threatens Further Attacks on Iran
US President Donald Trump has once again threatened Iran with new attacks after the US military struck several regions within the country. Trump stated that the US is prepared to launch strikes at any time if necessary. This statement followed a series of US attacks on various targets in Iran.
“We destroyed far more than their radar last night. It was a very heavy attack, and we are ready to carry out further strikes whenever we wish,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday.
The threat heightens tensions after US attacks targeted several Iranian regions, including coastal areas and the eastern part of the Strait of Hormuz. Several provinces in the western, south-western, and southern regions of Iran were also reported to be targets.
One of the attacks hit the town of Kuhestak on the coast of the Strait of Hormuz. The strike killed four people and injured 68 others while they were attending a wedding.
On the other hand, Tehran has warned Washington that Iran is preparing a new strategy to face the US through the battlefield, diplomatic channels, and economic pressure.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei condemned the latest US attacks, asserting that attacks against civilians constitute war crimes.
Iran subsequently stated that it had launched retaliatory strikes against several US military targets in the region. The targets were reportedly located in Jordan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Bahrain, and Erbil in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that these attacks were part of Tehran’s right to self-defence.
“Iran’s response is carried out in accordance with the inherent right to self-defence,” the ministry stated.
Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said Tehran would not face US pressure using old patterns. According to him, a new strategy will be implemented simultaneously on the battlefield, in diplomacy, and in facing economic pressure.
“With this desperate struggle, you will not only fail to escape the hell you have created yourselves, but you will soon see Iran’s new strategy on the battlefield, in diplomacy, and in facing the economic blockade that will destroy your foundations,” said Rezaei.
Tehran also urged regional countries not to grant access to the US military to use their territories for operations against Iran.
Several Gulf nations had previously stated they would not allow their territories to be used as bases to launch attacks against Iran.
