Beijing (ANTARA) - United States President Donald Trump and his entourage, participating in an official visit to China, are staying at the Four Seasons Hotel in the Liangmaqiao area of Chaoyang District, near the US Embassy.

Trump arrived at the hotel around 8:40 pm local time on Wednesday (13/5), in a convoy of dozens of vehicles including the presidential limousine “The Beast”.

Trump and his entourage did not appear to wave to the public or those around the hotel who had been waiting for the president’s arrival since the afternoon.

A large security gate has been installed near the Four Seasons Hotel, so everyone wishing to enter or exit the hotel must pass through that gate. Meanwhile, other doors that are usually open have been blocked with iron barricades, making them impassable.

Officers were seen deterring the public from photographing the hotel conditions and asking people to promptly leave the area in front of the hotel, which is right on the roadside.

US President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday (14/5) at the Great Hall of the People in China to discuss relations between the two countries in areas such as the economy, Taiwan, and the geopolitical situation.

Trump and his entourage landed with Air Force One at Beijing Capital International Airport at 7:50 pm local time. He was greeted by Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, who also attended Trump’s inauguration in Washington in January 2025 as a special representative of President Xi Jinping.

In addition, dozens of young Chinese people were seen waving US and Chinese flags, along with several government officials and an honour guard from the military.

Trump briefly paused and raised his fist in the air in his signature style on the red carpet as the young people shouted “welcome, welcome, warm welcome” in Mandarin.

The airport welcome ceremony was also attended by Chinese Ambassador to the US Xie Feng and Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Ma Zhaoxu.

The last time Trump visited Beijing was in 2017, when he stayed at the St. Regis Beijing hotel.

In a regular press conference, Spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Guo Jiakun stated that head-of-state diplomacy plays an irreplaceable role in providing strategic guidance for China-US relations.

“We welcome President Trump’s state visit to China. During the visit, the two heads of state will have in-depth exchanges of views on major issues concerning China-US relations and world peace and development,” said Guo Jiakun on Wednesday (13/5).

China, according to Guo Jiakun, is ready to work with the US to expand cooperation and manage differences in the spirit of equality, respect, and mutual benefit, while providing more stability and certainty for a changing and turbulent world.

Trump is also reported to have brought more than a dozen CEOs and executives from US companies, including Larry Fink (CEO and co-founder of BlackRock), Stephen Schwarzman (CEO and co-founder of Blackstone), Kelly Ortberg (CEO of Boeing), Brian Sikes (CEO of Cargill), Jane Fraser (CEO of Citigroup), and Jim Anderson (CEO of Coherent).

Then Larry Culp (CEO of GE Aerospace), David Solomon (CEO of Goldman Sachs), Jacob Thaysen (CEO of Illumina), Michael Miebach (CEO of Mastercard), Dina Powell McCormick (President and Vice Chair of Meta), Sanjay Mehrotra (CEO of Micron), Cristiano Amon (CEO of Qualcomm), Elon Musk (CEO of Tesla and SpaceX), Ryan McInerney (CEO of Visa), and Jensen Huang (CEO of NVIDIA), who joined last on the Air Force One flight while refuelling in Alaska.

In addition to the Great Hall of the People, Trump is also scheduled to tour the Temple of Heaven, which has been closed to the public on 13-14 May 2026.
