Trump Signs US-Iran Peace Agreement: 'This Was Not Easy'
A peace agreement between the United States and Iran has been signed by US President Donald Trump. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the peace deal was signed by Trump at the Palace of Versailles in France. French President Emmanuel Macron directly witnessed the signing. Trump told Macron that it was not easy.
In a post on X, Macron was seen sitting next to Trump. Behind them, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was visible. “This was not easy,” Trump said after signing the document, as seen on Macron’s X account on Thursday (18/6/2026).
The moment was then met with applause from Macron, Rubio and all the officials present in the room. Trump also appeared to show off the memorandum paper for the peace agreement that had been affixed with his signature.
In a post on his X account, Macron said the signing of the memorandum was a momentum for the US and Iran. The note, Macron said, also opens the way for the Strait of Hormuz to vessels from all over the world.
“This is an important step in the right direction for our fellow citizens that will allow a reduction in energy prices in the near future,” Macron wrote on X.
Trump is known to have signed the memorandum of peace agreement with Iran on Wednesday (17/6) evening after the G7 summit meeting in France. On the same day, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also signed the peace agreement document.
