Trump Signs Peace Deal, Assures Iran Will Not Have Nuclear Weapons

United States (US) President Donald Trump has said that his administration has signed a peace agreement with Iran. Under the deal, Trump stated, Iran will not possess nuclear weapons. “Will not have nuclear weapons,” Trump said, as reported by Aljazeera on Tuesday (16/6/2026). Trump said the agreement was approved by Iran. He noted that the success of the accord depends on oversight carried out by various parties. “They agreed to it,” Trump said. “Strict oversight will enforce the agreement,” he continued. Trump stressed that a violation of the agreement would return the conflict between the US and Iran to square one. “Hopefully this will be a good relationship… and if not, we will go back to the starting point,” he added. Trump confirmed that the peace deal between the United States and Iran has been signed. He asserted that the Strait of Hormuz will be fully reopened this Friday (19/6). As reported by Aljazeera on Tuesday (16/6), Trump made his statement in Evian-Les-Bains, France, speaking in front of French President Emmanuel Macron. “The deal with Tehran has been signed,” Trump said. However, Trump did not clarify whether Iran had also signed the document. “The deal is signed, and the Strait is partially opened,” Trump added.
