Trump signals imminent strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities

Washington (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump stated on Friday (4/9) that the US military may soon attack Pickaxe Mountain in Iran, a fortified location near the Natanz enrichment facility.

Trump also attempted to downplay the US-Iran conflict, referring to it as a “small matter.”

“We may attack Pickaxe soon,” Trump told reporters at the White House, referring to the underground facility where Iran, according to Washington, has moved part of its highly enriched uranium reserves.

Furthermore, Trump attempted to minimise the conflict with Iran, arguing that the situation does not constitute a war.

“It is a military conflict, but it is not continuous,” Trump said, although he has repeatedly referred to the conflict as a “war” while occasionally avoiding the term.

“I call it a military conflict because it is a small matter for us. The conflict is not a big deal,” Trump claimed.

“In my view, its nature is not continuous. You know, we are indeed conducting sporadic attacks,” Trump said. “It is true that we are not currently fighting. There is no battle.”

US forces targeted almost 60 Iranian sites around the Strait of Hormuz this week, including air defence locations, radar systems, mine-laying capabilities, and communication facilities, CNN reported.

On Tuesday (1/9) evening local time, US strikes hit a wedding party in the Sirik region of Iran’s Hormozgan Province, killing at least five people and injuring more than 60 others, according to Iranian state media.

On Wednesday (2/9), Trump threatened to launch more attacks against Iran “whenever we want.”

The US and Israel launched massive military strikes against Iran on 28 February, marking the beginning of a conflict that has resulted in thousands of deaths.
