Trump Says US Will Settle Matters with Iran Soon
US President Donald Trump said the United States would “settle matters with Iran soon”. His remarks suggested that an end to the conflict, which has been raging since late February, could be near.
Trump made the comments at a Republican Party campaign rally in Iowa ahead of the US midterm elections, Al Arabiya reported on Friday (23 October 2026). As at several other campaign events across the country, he addressed the ongoing conflict with Iran.
“We’re going to settle matters with Iran soon, one way or another,” Trump told supporters at the Iowa rally on Thursday (22 October).
“To me, how we do it doesn’t matter that much,” he said.
Trump made the remarks while discussing oil and petrol prices, which have surged amid the continuing conflict in the Middle East.
“Everything will be over soon, and your petrol and oil prices will drop dramatically,” the US president said.
In recent weeks, Trump has repeatedly made statements suggesting that the war with Iran is nearing an end.
Negotiations between Washington and Tehran, mediated by Pakistan and Qatar, have recently reached an impasse, with both sides holding firm to their respective demands.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration is facing growing pressure over the cost of living, as higher fuel prices add to inflation concerns.
Trump has repeatedly promised that oil and petrol prices will fall once the war with Iran ends, although it remains unclear when the conflict will actually come to a close.
