Trump Says US Has 2 Options After Being Dissatisfied with Iran's Peace Proposal
“There are several choices,” said Trump, as reported by CNN International on Saturday (2/5/2026). The first option, according to Trump, is for the US to launch an all-out attack to destroy Iran forever. The second option is an effort to end the war through negotiation. “Do we want to bomb them outright and destroy them forever? Or do we want to try to reach a deal? Those are the options,” Trump stated. He said the US would continue to prioritise the second option to end the war through talks. “On humanitarian grounds, I prefer not to do it,” he said. “But those are the options. Do we want to attack them on a massive scale and destroy them, or do we want to do something?” Trump added. As is known, peace negotiations between Iran and the United States (US) had previously stalled. Iran has since sent a new proposal to initiate follow-up negotiations with the US. “The Islamic Republic of Iran submitted its latest negotiation proposal text to Pakistan, as the mediator in talks with the United States, on Thursday evening,” stated the Iranian Republic News Agency, IRNA, as reported by AFP on Friday (1/5). On Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held telephone calls with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Iraq, and Azerbaijan. The Iranian Foreign Ministry said the content of the calls discussed “the latest initiative of the Islamic Republic to end the war.”
