Trump Says US Agrees to Resume Talks with Iran

Washington (ANTARA) - President of the United States (US) Donald Trump said on Friday (10/7) that Washington has agreed to resume negotiations with Iran, even though the US has told Tehran that the ceasefire period is over. “The Islamic Republic of Iran asked us to resume negotiations. We agreed, but the US has told them, firmly, that the Ceasefire is over!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. Qatari negotiators travelled to Iran after coordinating with the Trump administration in an effort to de-escalate tensions and revive US-Iran talks, CNN reported on Friday, citing a diplomat familiar with the efforts. A new round of US-Iran negotiations is expected to be held next week and will likely take place in Switzerland, according to a report by US media outlet Axios, citing a source familiar with the matter. US forces have repeatedly launched strikes against Iran since the beginning of the week in response to several attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
